HVAC fan has a mind of it's own. Fan blows full, or not at all...or in between. Happens on auto or manual. Anyone?
Will replacing the dash unit fix it? Rheostat?

The fan in most cars is an electric blower motor. If the fan is not working properly, its likely the result of a bad blower motor or switch. I would start at the switch. Replace it or bypass it and see if that solves your problem. If not, then move on to the blower motor. If the a/c is still cold when its on, then this is sure to be an electrical issue, not a problem with the a/c system.

What kind of car? Some cars have a know issue with the fan control modules, i.e., BMW's etc. More details will help get your problem diagnosed, and a solution (hopefully a low cost one at that!)
