Should the body kit be molded to the car or snapped on?
I have a 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe and am looking into purchasing a body kit for it. I was told by one body shop that having the body kit molded on to the car makes it look better. But then another auto body shop informed me that if I plan on having the car for a while, molding the body kit on would ruin the car in the long run. He added that the paint would start to chip and flake off, etc.. And is it better to have the body kit material made out of poly-urethane or fiber glass?

Most body kits for today's new cars are not molded on, meaning they are easily removed if a piece needs to be replaced. If you purchased a new Saleen Mustang, you'll see what I mean. These kits simply use a very strong double stick tape and some screws. Molding on a kit might look a little nicer and is common on custom kits and show cars. As for the material, fiberglass is often cheaper, but urethane is more flexible and will withstand more bumps. However, it depends on the piece. For example, I can't remember ever seeing a urethane hood.
