The cowl is the part of the vehicle between the firewall and the front of the dash panel. Basically, the area of the body where the bottom front windshield attaches to. Cowl Shake is a vibration or shake of a vehicle in the cowl area due to lack of torsional rigidity of the frame and body. Its most common in convertibles since they lack the added bracing of a steel roof that ties the front and rear of the car together.
