How can I remove pitting and scratches from exterior metal trim?
I have an old car with lots of stainless trim around the windows and metal exterior door handles. Can I remove the fine scratches and pitting, or do these items need to be replaced?

You should be able to remove most of the pitting and fine scratches from stainless and chrome with a good polish. Try Meguiar's Hot Rims (or something similar) and lightly rub with super fine #0000 grade steel wool.
