Press the gas pedal and it hesitates.
I have 302 with 4B Holley, MSD 8503 Distributor and MSD coil blaster 2.
1.If I press the gas pedal normal and then want to make the car go, I get a hesitation or sounds like the motor dies and then kicks in.

2. From a stand still and I press gas pedal hard, it dies completely.

I had the carb rebuilt and just put in the MSD distributor. Is this a trimming or carb problem? Or is it both?

Could be a bit of both, first get the car timing set up right then it is not a question. One thing that might be a problem is what timing curve you have selected with the electronic curve the MSD 8503 has. If you left it stock it may be very slow advancing since they are often set very conservitive. If you have a 4 bbl holley check the Accelerator pumps and make sure it starts squirting as soon as you the throttle moves. If not you may just have to mess with the pump linkage and pump cam settings. Hopefully everything else is in working order, no vacuum leaks, etc.

Judging by the fact that if the car is already moving it stumbles, and if it's still it dies
completely, I would look at the position of the accelerator pump cams to make sure
they're properly positioned: while on that note, if you didn't do the carb rebuild yourself
have the person that did it recheck to make sure that a checkball wasn't mistakenly
left out or something, and also check to see when the accel pump starts to come into
play.
