Whats the best timing with MSD 8503 E-Curv distributer with a 302/4bc Holley?
I have 1968 XR7 Cougar 302 /4B Holley and still using points ignition and want to move over electronic. I just had the carb/C4 Tranny rebuilt. The problem I have is there is too many ways to setup.

That's a nice distributor, but the timing is what works best with the engine overall, not necessarily the distributor itself. I'd start with about 10 degrees of initial timing and keep increasing until you find max power (usually between 12 and 15 degrees). This should put total timing in the mid 30 degree range. Total timing will depend on how hot the motor gets, what fuel you use, etc. Obviously, 93 octane can handle more timing than 87 octane. Good luck!
