when i drive the car after awhile the temp gauge goes all the way to hot...but never overheats ive just changed the thermostat and it still reading hot. ive checked to see if its a blown head gasket but its not or else the car would not work propertly. also my heater doe not work. trying to figure out what else it could be.

It sounds like the temp sensor is bad. If you are sure the engine is not getting hot, then the problem has to be with the temp sensor. The temp sensor should be in the lower manifold, probably by the thermostat. When you replace the sensor, be sure to use "pipe dope" instead of plumber's tape. A piece of tape could clog the thermostat. As for your heater not working, I'd check to see that the blower motor is working.
