Hot rod designer and fabricator Troy Trepanier, of
Rad Rides by Troy, has captured the Don Ridler Memorial Award for first time at the 2007 Autorama in Detroit. Named after the
show's first promoter Don Ridler, the Riddler Award is one of the most coveted trophies on the show car circuit and the winning vehicle is often considered the most beautifully crafted in the world.
Beth and Ross Meyer, who commissioned Troy to build the vehicle, own the 1936 Ford Three Window Coupe. The car, effectively known as "First Love" since Ross bought the car when he was only 9 years old, features custom appointments such as a chopped roofline, stretched chassis, hidden fasteners, retro big block, vintage custom interior, floating suspension, hidden disk brakes and billet "Wide 5" wheels.
Congratulations to everyone involved in creating this
masterpiece.
The Detriot show has had one of the largest turn outs since the early 90's as reported. Some very nice hot rods and other custom cars. Glad to see so many nice custom cars, and a very broad variety of them as well.
I wonder if they Troy and company would let the ripper take her for a spin? Might not like the bleach burn out, but would be a cool ride to have for a day.
