Racers who want to slip into something more fashionable at the track next year will find the 2010 Camaro is just their size. GM Performance Parts will offer body in white&lt;!--preview--&gt; packages of the new Camaro starting in the first quarter of 2009. &lt;!--more--&gt;
 The basic package lists for $7,000 and includes an assembled body structure, including the front fenders, hood, roof, doors, rear quarters and trunk lid. The structure also includes the complete floorpans and chassis rails. 
Racer must fill out an online application to be eligible to purchase one. The form is available at LINK_TO "www.gmperformanceparts.com.", "http://www.gmperformanceparts.com" Bodies will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is no limit to the number an approved racing team can purchase.

 &#8220;This is the easiest and most cost-effective way to build a race-ready new Camaro,&#8221; said Dr. Jamie Meyer, product-marketing manager, GM Performance Parts. &#8220;We envision racers using these bodies for all types of competition, from Pro Street and Competition drag racing to road racing.&#8221;
 The body in white includes only an un-painted body shell and no additional components or materials. The bodies do not have vehicle identification numbers, so they may be used only as racing vehicles that will never be licensed for street driving.
 Racers will add the powertrain, fuel system, suspension, interior components, glass (or sanctioning body-approved alternative) and safety equipment, then go racing. 
&#8220;For the racers who would strip down the entire car and replace most of the components with racing-spec parts, the body in white saves time and money,&#8221; said Dr. Meyer. &#8220;Drag racers, for example, won&#8217;t have to worry about swapping out for a solid axle &#8211; they can just bolt one up and go.&#8221; 
The body in white&#8217;s unadorned interior also saves time and money by allowing racing teams to eliminate the process of stripping a fully equipped production car in order to reduce weight and prep the chassis for a roll cage. 
And when it comes to building up the body in white, GM Performance Parts offers crate engines, engine controllers, high-performance transmissions and hundreds of other parts to help complete the project &#8211; including dedicated drag racing engines and engines suited for circle track and road racing competition.

GM&#8217;s performance divisions have been making a big impact recently with their presence at SEMA and the factory modifications already available for the new Camaro.  Well, owners of the Solstice&lt;!--preview--&gt;, HHR and other 2.0L turbo vehicles were not forgotten.  GM now offers a turbo upgrade for the 2.0 liter LNF engine.&lt;!--more--&gt;

The turbo upgrade kit for the Solstice GXP, Sky Redline, and HHR SS was designed by LINK_TO "General Motors Performance Division", "http://www.gmperformancedivision.com" engineers to get the most power possible out of the 2.0 Liter LNF Turbo engine. This kit will take your vehicle from 260 hp and 260 ft-lbs to 290 hp and as much as 340 ft-lbs of torque. All this power and you will still retain the full factory warranty. This kit also provides emission standards that accommodate the legal criteria in all 50 states. This kit is a quick an easy install that will not affect the driveability of your vehicle in any way, but will have plenty of extra power and torque when called upon. This kit includes the &#8220;No Lift Shift&#8221; feature for faster accelerations with manual transmissions.  I also heard that the software update has the restriction lifted on its learning feature, which will allow your vehicle to better adapt to other modifications such as exhaust upgrades, although I have not been able to confirm that.  The GM Turbo Upgrade kit has an MSRP of $750.
This kit will also be available for the 2008-2009 Cobalt SS and the above 2009 Turbo vehicles in Q1 2009.

Ford built a great car in the &#8216;05-&#8216;09 S197 Mustang, but with a little help from COMP Cams it can sound and perform like a real &#8220;hot rod&#8221;. To even the playing field on the street and strip, engineers at COMP Cams have recently designed a line of Thumpr Camshafts specifically for Ford 3 valve engine technology. The Thumpr Cam Sets for Ford 4.6L/5.4L Modular 3V Engines deliver an aggressive &#8220;thumping&#8221; exhaust idle and generous power gains in the middle and upper rpm range.

It seems today that adding horsepower to your muscle car is becoming easier.  More companies are manufacturing specialty parts with the ease of do-it-yourself installation.  However&lt;!--preview--&gt;, one aspect often overlooked is safety.  Stiffening the chassis of your muscle car to ride smoother while adding the protection of a roll cage often requires significant modifications to your car, and a considerable amount of fabricating and welding skill.  Well, RideTech has a new, simple solution. The new TigerCage is a completely bolt-in cage that installs using key structural locations to substantially increase chassis stiffness. &lt;!--more--&gt;
As with any &#8220;rollcage&#8221;, the main function and ultimate purpose of the TigerCage is to protect the occupants in case of a crash. However, its usefulness is more often expressed in stiffening and strengthening the car&#8217;s chassis.

The TigerCage is specifically designed to interface with the structural strength points of the vehicle&#8217;s unibody, or frame, to tie them together &amp; increase torsional rigidity within the chassis.
The main hoop of the TigerCage connects to the area behind the front seats where the rocker boxes intersect the floorboard.
The &#8220;back bars&#8221; run from the top corners of the main hoop to the rear package tray, which is an important structural reinforcement in most cars and is secured in both the horizontal plane and the vertical plane to optimize rigidity. The mating trunk bars join with the back bars underneath the package tray and are fastened with reinforced brackets to the rear frame rail to complete the base structure.

The short-block assembly is constructed of a Dart Iron Eagle block, SCAT cast crankshaft, forged steel connecting rods and KB pistons. Edelbrock&#8217;s Total Power Package combination of roller camshaft, Performer RPM or RPM Xtreme cylinder heads, RPM or RPM XT intake manifold and carburetor or EFI delivers broad torque and high-end horsepower.  Edelbrock dyno tested their new 347 at 449 HP and 417 ft/lbs of torque!
Additional qualities include Edelbrock 1.6:1 roller rockers, MSD distributor and a Milodon oil pan.  A two-year, unlimited mileage warranty is included and administered through Edelbrock. &lt;center&gt;&lt;b&gt;- - - Update 08/07/2009 - - -&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br&gt;The Edelbrock engine dyno room and crew has been busy testing the new Pro-Flo XT fuel injection kit #3520 for small-block Fords.  Dyno testing results were 503 HP and 445 ft/lbs. torque @5,011 rpm!  The kit utilizes a Pro-Flo XT ECU and Calibration Module mated to Edelbrock's 90mm throttle body and XT manifold.  The kit also includes an MSD Pro-Billet distributor and is compatible with Edelbrock of factory style heads.
